The Association was formed after several Deputy Sheriffs and Deputy Marshals "kicked" the idea around for several years during casual conversation. On March 27, 2001 an organizational meeting was held in Gwinnett County to see if there was enough interest in the Law Enforcement Community to form an association. 42 people showed up. The name was selected and a Steering Committee was formed. Quarterly training sessions were held throughout the year. Meeting attendance has exceeded 150 on several occasions!

On January 1, 2010 The Georgia Civil Process Association became a Division of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association, Inc.® (GCPA).  See the Advisory Board Link for more information.
